Centerville J.H.S.

At Centerville, we have a mixed ability ensemble with students ranging from absolute beginners all the way to young musicians with four or five years of performance under their belt.

This ensemble is a competitive performance ensemble, performing for Forum Music Festival and CMEA in the Spring.

The music and instruction presented in Concert Band is used to engage and excite young musicians so they can move onto their high school years with opportunities to receive college credits, scholarships, community service hours, and high quality letters of recommendation (provided they stay within the music program of course!

Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble

While our Marching Band consists of everyone in both band ensembles combined, we do have two levels of bands at Washington HS and one level of band at Centerville Jr. High. Our Beginning Ensemble is our Concert Band; this band accepts all students of any level with no audition required.

Our Intermediate and Advanced level groups are at home at Washington High School. The Intermediate level of Symphonic Band is open to all skill levels while the Advanced group is the Wind Ensemble.

Mixed Chorus

Mixed Chorus is an ensemble which incorporates both male and female vocal styles. This forms a unique, beautiful tone structure that can be applied to pop, jazz, classical, or original works. These young musicians endeavor to learn to read music, blend and balance through an ensemble, create individual solos, and make music their own through guided instruction and competition.

Interested students can also audition with Ms. Mitchell for Star Spangled Banner performances at assemblies and sporting events.

Are you a coach at Washington High School or a sports facilitator, willing to donate to a school/ need a group to play? Contact Ms. Mitchell at amitchell@fusdk12.net at least two months prior to the event date.
